1969 Rolex "Flying the Concorde” GMT-Master ‘Pepsi’ 1675

An aircraft known for International travel - crossing timezones - is the perfect ambassador for the GMT-Master.

To many, the Concorde is a myth. Some sci-fi transporter that couldn’t possibly be real. Certainly not reality for commercial use. Military maybe. Yet fifty years ago, in 1969, the very year this ad was printed, the Concorde took off and would become a mode of transportation for the wealthy. At a speed twice the speed of sound, a Concorde jet could fly from London to New York in 3 hours and 30 minutes. It’s been said by Concorde pilots that the supersonic speed makes jet lag a non-issue. But in case you are feeling the effects, hopefully you’re wearing a GMT. A watch designed to be the antidote with a, "big honest face [that] tells the time in two time zones at once. And the date."

The “If you were…” advertising campaign from the late 1960’s and early 1970s resulted in some of the most iconic Rolex advertisements of all time, with headlines that have made an indelible impression on watch collectors. Along with other popular ads of this genre, such as, “If taming oil well fires were your job…” curiously calling on a solid gold Day-Date to do the job, this “flying the Concorde” version is among the most-sought after.

Framed with shade of white matting to compliment tones of paper. Black, solid wood frame.

These documents of horological history have entered the watch collecting conversation as the ultimate accompanying accessory, and have found themselves framed in homes and offices around the world. Every one of these wonderful pieces is a genuine, vintage advertisement that has been professionally mounted and framed with UV resistant glass to ensure years of enjoyment to come - no reprints or reproductions here!
