Why We Love It
From a purist perspective, no date Submariner's are the ones to own. But for those that seek a little more rarified air - we have just the thing.
Featuring a rare and stunning glossy gilt dial, this 5513 is truly a sight to see in the metal. The way in which the gold text shines catches the light can't really be conveyed until viewed in person. Fitted on a stretch rivet Oyster bracelet, this 5513 is a relatively early example dating to 1965, just several years after the 5513s inception in 1962.
Maybe you've had a few sport watches are looking to get a classic. Or you've even had a few vintage Subs before and are ready for the next level.
In either case - every collector should experience the splendor of a gloss gilt dial in their life.
The Reference 5513 is arguably one of the most desirable examples of Submariner out there. Produced from 1962 until 1989, the Reference 5513 is probably the longest-running model of Rolex ever. Following on the heels of the 5512, the 5513 was the second reference of Sub to feature crown guards.
However, due to the 5512’s relative rarity on the collector’s circuit, it’s the 5513 that has come to typify vintage no-date Subs in the minds of collectors.
Long viewed by collectors as the purest expression of Submariner, the 5513 is the last great no-date Sub. Although Rolex still makes Submariners without dates, the 5513 retains the smaller diameter (39mm) case and slimmer proportions that distinguish vintage Submariners from modern.
39mm Stainless steel Oyster case is approximately 39mm (excluding the crown). Rolex automatic-winding movement. Circa 1965.
Overall Condition: The 'PCG' case is in fantastic condition overall showing normal wear consistent with age and use. Some minor signs of sleeve wear and light polishing. Luminous glossy 'gilt' dial is in excellent condition with evenly patinated tritium plots and matching 'Mercedes' handset. Dial shows some minor edge wear at 12:00. Signed crown. Caseback engraved "GR-PL-DEM CHRG".
Includes 6636/80 stretch rivet Oyster bracelet with big crown logo clasp.
