Why We Love It

The Rolex 16613 has carved for itself a special place in the hearts of Rolex fans. Since being replaced by the 116613 — hallmarked by its larger case and crown guards, and uniform maxi dial and hands — the Reference 16613 has joined other more modern expressions, like the Ref. 16800, as a sleeper collectible.

Nicknamed the "Bluesy" by collectors and enthusiasts, this two-tone Submariner is one of only a few two-tone Subs produced by Rolex, and sports a eye-catching blue iridescent dial, another rare trait among offerings from the Crown.

This example is in excellent condition and comes complete with its original inner and outer boxes, hang tag, warranty paperwork, passport wallet and instruction booklets.

The Story

The Rolex 16613 was released in circa 1988, coming on the heels of the release of the Ref. 16803, Rolex's first-ever two-tone Submariner model.  Where the 16803 enjoyed a short production run, the 16613 was produced for decades, likely owing to the popularity of the vibrant blue dial — a rarity among Rolex Submariners, even today.  

The 16613 was replaced by the 116613 in the late aughts, a move which, for many, marked the end of the "Submariner" as we new it, due in no small part to the larger case with thicker lugs and crown guards.  

Submariners from the 1980s and 90s haven't risen to the levels that their predecessors have, but for many this is a good thing; these 39mm-cased Subs still carry the feel of the classic Submariner while offering great weekend wearability.

Most of our products are on hand and will ship directly from our headquarters in New York City. In some cases, watches will be shipped directly from one of our authorized partners.

We generally ship our products via FedEx, fully insured, within 5 business days of purchase. An adult signature is required for receipt of all packages for insurance purposes. Expedited shipping is available at an additional cost. We are also happy to hand deliver your purchase in Manhattan or you may pick it up at our showroom.

Returns must be sent overnight or by priority international delivery, fully insured and paid for by the customer. A restocking fee may apply. Watches must be returned in the same condition as initially shipped.
