Alpina Seastrong

Alpina Seastrong

We’ve joined forces with our friends at 10:25 Vintage, a New York-based operation with a shared enthusiasm for interesting vintage timepieces, to bring you a robust handpicked collection that is both exceptional and affordable. Perfect for the discerning collector on a budget, these pieces provide an excellent entry point to the joys of vintage watches.

Like many of the brands we know and love here, Alpina's current incarnation belies its rich history. Founded in 1883 in Geneva, Alpina was an early pioneer in partnering with other brands - they led one of the first alliances of Swiss watchmakers dedicated to pushing quality and innovation to new heights.

In the early 1900's, they expanded operations to Glashütte, the capital of German watchmaking, and reserved the Alpina name for only their highest grade movements and cases. They later focused on more rugged tool watches, including many of the military-grade pieces for which they are perhaps most known.

These pieces were guided by their key principles known as the Alpina 4 - a true sports watch should be anti-magnetic, water resistant, anti-shock, and made of full stainless steel. This late 60's Sea-Strong automatic has these characteristics and more in spades. Featuring a sleek cushion case with recessed crown, a stunning dark gray dial, and a German day display, this piece brings plenty of character and provides an interesting opportunity to explore the vintage offerings of one of the finer, though lesser known, Swiss manufactures.

Stainless steel case is 37mm (excluding the crown). ETA 2780. Circa late 1960’s

Overall Condition: Case is in good cosmetic condition with light, even wear from age and use. Small nick on the backside near the top right lug. Brushed dial is in excellent condition save a small scratch around 7 o'clock. Handset is in great condition with nicely aged luminous paint. Screw down stainless steel caseback and unsigned recessed crown.

Includes generic steel bracelet and two 18mm nylon straps by Crown & Buckle.
