Longines RAF Pilot's Watch

Longines RAF Pilot's Watch

Why We Love It

Longines needs little introduction. Not only has the Swiss watchmaker garnered respect amongst vintage enthusiasts, the brand still releases well-received modern reissues in their Heritage collection.

Longines also happens to have military provenance. This RAF issued 6B/159 comes in at 32mm, cased in chrome plate. Its off-white colored dial really allows the art-deco numerals to be on full display. An oversized 'onion' crown really defines the watch. Gorgeous blued steel hands sweep across the dial.

One could only imagine what this watch and it's owner went through. If you've never owned a proper military piece, well... here ya go!

The Story

Longines bears the distinction of producing the first chronograph wristwatch in 1913 followed by two decades later with the development of the flyback chronograph in 1936. Without the addition of another pusher to reset the chronograph, the chronograph simply could not be reset without stopping it first--until the flyback chronograph made that a reality.

From the 1930s to today, Longines has also produced a series of stunning and accessibly priced wristwatches with a variety of complications, a number of which have become incredibly hot on today's collector market.
