Longines Admiral Pulsations

Why We Love It

Longines is a brand that needs no introduction. It is a staple of the Swiss watchmaking industry. They are well-known for their broad assortment of models and designs, as well as their value proposition.

This particular Longines Admiral dates to 1966 and is made from solid 14k Yellow Gold. The thoroughly patinated silver dial features a pulsations scale which would have been used by Doctors to measure the pulse of a patient. A curiously technical dial housed in an elegant and dressy case. The watch is fitted on a vintage Dorado gold-plated bracelet with extendable links.

Its a curios timepiece by modern standards. Both treasure and tool - a charming combination of purpose and pomp.

The Story

Longines bears the distinction of producing the first chronograph wristwatch in 1913 followed by two decades later with the development of the flyback chronograph in 1936. Without the addition of another pusher to reset the chronograph, the chronograph simply could not be reset without stopping it first--until the flyback chronograph made that a reality.

From the 1930s to today, Longines has also produced a series of stunning and accessibly priced wristwatches with a variety of complications, a number of which have become incredibly hot on today's collector market.
