Why We Love It
It's not uncommon for soon to be collectors to start their hobby with a vintage Datejust... and for good reason.
They're extremely versatile, comfortable, and relatively attainable in all different types of variations. At 36mm, it's slim proportions fit nicely on the wrist.
What we have here is not your run-of-the-mill Datejust, but rather features a blue sun burst 'Sigma' dial. Such dials are supremely rare. For one to have maintained its resplendence while also having developed richly patinated tritium elements is just icing on this shiny cake. Bring the watch into sunlight and you will understand what all the fuss is about. Its dynamic and vibrant.
If you have the luxury of strapping on a beautiful Datejust as your daily wearer, we can assure you you won't regret it.
We've said it over and over again - the Datejust may just be the perfect watch.
Coupling perfect proportions, simple dial layouts, and robust movements, Rolex's most prolific model is an icon of timekeeping that has been in continuous production for decades. Moreover, the Datejust is all the watch that just about any of us really need.
The beauty of the Datejust is that it is the ultimate do-anything, go-anywhere watch. Equal parts sporty and dressy, the Datejust wears just as well with jeans as it does with a suit, and thanks to the signature Oyster case and tough-as-nails movement, it’s ready for anything that you can throw at it.
Stainless steel case is approximately 36mm (excluding the crown). Rolex automatic-winding movement, Ref. 1603. Circa 1960s.
Overall Condition: The case is in good condition overall showing normal wear consistent with age and use and polishing. Later luminous blue sunburst 'sigma' dial is in excellent condition with applied markers, patinated lume plots and matching handset and light patination. Signed crown. Caseback shows light signs of polishing.
Includes folded link Jubilee bracelet with 55 end links and signed Oyster clasp.
