Benrus Day/Date Pointer

Benrus Day/Date Pointer

The Benrus Watch Company, founded in New York City, quickly became one of America's iconic watch brands.  With large assembly efforts in the United States, and a case factory in Waterbury, CT, Benrus was an honest-to-goodness American watch.  The company went bankrupt in 1971 because of the Quartz Crisis, but for many years, Benrus was the second largest American watch company after Hamilton.

While Benrus is probably most famous for its defense-contracted GI watches that they produced for troops during the 60s, it was during the 1940s that Benrus produced some of their best watches.

The most notable of these would have to be their beautiful day/date calendar watch introduced in the late 1940s. With a rolled gold case and a manual-wind, 17-jewel Benrus Calibre CE-13 movement, these little beauties made waves as Benrus' most widely sold "complex" wristwatch.

This particular execution features beautiful fancy lugs and a rolled gold case with stainless back.  The original Benrus silver sunburst dial and gorgeous bright red pointer hand make this watch a lovely piece of American-made timekeeping.

10k rolled gold case with stainless back is approximately 30mm (excluding crown).

Overall Condition: 10k case is in good condition over all with only light wear marks throughout, save save one slightly noticeable ding on the lower lefthand lug. Original Benrus dial is very clean with a lovely patinated sunburst finish. Outer white date ring is bright and free of dust or signs of aging. Day and date functions work perfectly.

Comes with one 16mm brown leather Hadley Roma strap.
