Steeped in rich historical origins, Citizen Watch Company goes back to 1924 when the Shokosha Watch Research Institute produced its first pocket watch, aptly named the "CITIZEN". Then Mayor of Tokyo, Mr Shimpei Goto, named the watch "CITIZEN" with the hope that the watch, a luxury item in those days, would become widely available to ordinary citizens and be sold throughout the world. The rest is, as they say, history.
Citizen has since evolved into one of the most widely available and popular affordable watch brands, not to mention one of the most innovative with the launch of their Eco-Drive technology which harnesses natural and artificial light to power their Eco-Drive line.
This stunning example is a very clean dive watch with caseback marked "Citizen Auto Dater / Para Water / Star" featuring an automatic, 17 jewel movement, gorgeous rotating "Pepsi" bezel and original "beads of rice" bracelet. This piece certainly has all the features of a classic sports watch at a fraction of the price!
Steel case is approximately 37mm (excluding the crown).
Overall condition: Case is in good overall condition, with minor scratching on the case back. Original dial. Hands and markers show some discoloration from age. Original crystal shows light marking. Crown showing signs of wear and moderate bronzing.
Includes original steel bracelet with signed clasp.
