Why We Love It
For those of you who've been lurking around the site for a while, you know that we're pretty passionate about DOXA.
Generally, we herald the brand's groundbreaking work with the Sub 300 - the watch the changed the face of dive watches and SCUBA history forever - but every once in a while, we find an earlier piece worthy of the same praise.
When we discovered this time-only DOXA gent's dress watch from the 1940s, we knew we found a proper horological treasure The pairing of the glossy black dial with gilt printed Breguet indices and fancy gold hands is incredibly pleasing, and the subtle gray chapter ring hand adds a touch of style and whimsy.
If you ask us, this is one great way to get a classic piece from a storied brand that perfectly demonstrates the quality and design of their pre-sports watch era.
Stainless steel case is approximately 30mm X 32mm squared (excluding the crown). DOXA signed Manual-Winding Movement. Circa 1940s.
Overall Condition: The case is in excellent condition overall, showing light wear consistent with age and use. Non luminous gloss black dial is in excellent condition with crisp printing and printed Breguet numerals showing minimal patination. Yellow gold toned handset. Unsigned crown.
Includes brown lizard leather strap with steel pin buckle.
