Imperial Watch Oversized Chronograph

Imperial Watch Oversized Chronograph

Why We Love It

Imperial Watch? Lord Vader would approve!

The brand, we agree, is not well known, but we'd also have to agree that this is one hell of a good looking watch. Not every great watch has Rolex or Omega printed on the dial - and sometimes it's these unknown gems that appeal most to us.

First looks definitely don't disappoint. The blue 'snail scale' printing on the dial caught our eyes straightaway and perfectly complement the blued steel hands. The two-tone silver/cream dial glistens in the light and evokes a mid-century design aesthetic brilliantly. Its 38mm solid stainless steel case is in exceptional condition and has a great presence on the wrist.

This is a prime example of brand name carrying value - or in this case, the opposite. If this lovely chronograph came from a known entity, we all know the price tag would be substantially higher.

But for enthusiasts who like to think outside the box, it presents a tremendous value and a great piece of forgotten history. Imperial or rebel scum alike.

The Story

As vintage watch collectors, we find beauty in discovering the undiscovered, or bringing light to the unknown or forgotten. For every Omega, Breitling, or Heuer, there’s a Buren, a Yema, or a Mulco, long-dead and forgotten manufactures whose products survive to tell the tale. The tales they tell speak of glory and then obscurity as the Quartz Crisis of the 1970s forced many brands to shutter their factories and go out of business.
