Longines Flyback Chronograph

Longines Flyback Chronograph

Why We Love it

Longines is a brand that needs no introduction. It was a staple of the Swiss watchmaking industry throughout the 20th century. They are well-known for their broad assortment of models and designs, as well as their masterful--and iconic--chronographs, like the 7413-3.

This particular chronograph, among others produced by Longines represent an era when achievements in horology reached their zenith, marrying traditional designs with the cutting-edge technology of the day. It features the highly praised Calibre 30CH column wheel chronograph movement with a useful flyback function which allows the wearer to reset the chronograph without having to stop it first.

From a design and stylistic standpoint the overall look of this piece is the perfect amount of symmetrical and minimalist. It features a beautiful silver sunburst dial with matching applied hour markers and handset, all housed in a 38mm stainless steel case. With the subtle pop of blue from the tachymeter scale, it’s a classic Longines Chronograph suitable for everyday wear.

The Story

Longines bears the distinction of producing the first chronograph wristwatch in 1913 followed by two decades later with the development of the flyback chronograph in 1936. Without the addition of another pusher to reset the chronograph, the chronograph simply could not be reset without stopping it first--until the flyback chronograph made that a reality.

This Longines checks all of the boxes when it comes to a clean look, a solid movement and an interesting story in watchmaking history - a chronograph from a a brand that made chronographs possible!
