Mühle SAR Rescue Timer

Mühle SAR Rescue Timer

We both know that we are vintage watch guys, but if you've been following us for any length of time, you know that we have a soft spot in our collective heart for military watches.  And though at first glance there isn't much in common between the Hamilton GI watch and the IWC Dopplechrono, we know that somewhere in the genus of each military timepiece is the eternal search for mechanical precision combined with technical grit.

The Mühle SAR Rescue Timer is no different.

Built by the famed German manufacture Glashütte on specifications from officers in the German Maritime Search and Rescue, the Mühle is true service watch, seeing daily action on wrists of Germany's baddest asses.  The watch is designed, from its 4mm thick anti-glare sapphire crystal to its beefy stainless steel case complete with 100-bar water resistance and screw-down crown, to take a serious beating, day in and day out, in the worst of extremes.

Under the hood, the Mühle is no less of a workhorse; it features an SW 200-1 automatic movement with "woodpecker neck" regulation and shock protection, stop-seconds, quick-set date and a 38-hour power reserve.

To top it all off, the black matte dial with Super-Luminova markers and hands, make this door-kicker legible in just about any light condition.

Now, we know it's kind of ugly, but then again, Search and Rescue is no walk in the park.  And let's be honest, would you really want anything pretty on your wrist when the shit hits the proverbial fan?

We didn't think so.
