It is no secret that the popularity of the Tudor brand is reaching stratospheric levels as of late. After decades of neglect, Rolexes' sibling brand has caught on in an epic fashion, due in no small part to the tremendously desirable and popular line of modern Heritage Collection timepieces that has swept the industry over the past few years.
Vintage Tudor timepieces have similarly "caught on" and many nearly forgotten wristwatches have been pulled from drawers and brought back into the well-deserved limelight. While the greatest attention is being paid to the sports models, there are also a number of terrific casual and formal dress pieces being "found" and brought back to life. We have a stunning example available here: an absolutely wonderful Tudor "Big Rose" Oyster Date in steel.
Dating from the 1960s, this Tudor reference 7962 is sized at 34mm, perfect for a slimmer wrist. It features the same Genuine Oyster Case design as its Rolex contemporaries, but is fitted with a manually-wound 17 Jewel movement with date function. Its satin silver dial shows a lovely light patina and is finished with polished dart markers and dauphine style hands. The cake topper on this beauty is the rare and lovely "Big Rose" Tudor logo at 12, a stunning and intricate applied element which was literally downsized in subsequent models.
This is a truly elegant timepiece with an iconic Oyster design and a lovely dial for a relatively meager sum. Definitely a hard one to let go of!
Steel Oyster Case is approximately 34mm in diameter (excluding the crown). Tudor Reference 7962
Overall condition: Case is in very good condition over all. Light wear marks consistent with age, but no signs of over-polishing. Original silver dial with large Tudor rose at 12 o'clock is exquisite. Original dauphine hands and signed crown.
Includes one 19mm Crown and Buckle nylon strap.
