Why We Love it

A DLC-coated, 100M water resistant titanium sports watch on an integrated rubber strap is just about the last thing we’d expect from renowned Parisian luxury maison Hermès, but in 2021 that's exactly what we got when they announced the latest in a run of timepieces that bent the rules of luxury. They call it the H08.

With an entirely new case architecture built with everyday-wear qualities, the H08 balances a design-forward aesthetic with a refreshing take on the tool watch, making it one of the most talked about timepieces from Watches & Wonders a few years back.

Internally known as a Reference W049430WW00, the H08 features a 39mm square-cushion titanium case with a DLC-coated midcase, satin brushed bezel, sapphire crystal and a blackened steel crown signed with Hermes’ ‘H’ emblem. Its black nickel-coated dial features stylized luminous Arabic indices, a central minute track, date window at 4:30 and matching luminous handset.

Outfitted with an orange rubber strap (naturally!) with a titanium push-button deployant clasp, this piece comes powered by the self-winding Hermès Manufacture Caliber H1837 movement, beautifully finished with the Hermes ‘H’ pattern across its winding rotor and bridges.

Offering more of a contemporary look than your average stainless steel sports watch, the H08 is a design that has style for days. Strap one on and you'll see why a generally more conservative watch buying public has gone crazy for 'em!

Brand Story

+
Though Hermès may be known more for its gorgeous scarves and Birkin bags, more recent years have seen the French luxury house branch out into serious watchmaking.

The maison began a furious push to vertically integrate in 2006, purchasing a 25% stake in movement maker Vaucher; this was followed by the purchase in 2012 of a dial manufacturer and a case maker in 2013. The results have been some of the most stunning timepieces of the past decade, including the gorgeous Slim d’Hermès with its unique, cut-out typeface, and the Arceau L’Heure De La Lune moonphase. From entry-level dress watches such as the Galop d’Hermès — designed by American industrial designer Ini Archibong — to GPHG-winning creations such as the Arceau Robe du Soir, the maison has more than proven its horological savoir faire.
