Rolex Lady Datejust 18K Mahogony Dial

Rolex Lady Datejust 18K Mahogony Dial

It is perhaps one of the greatest injustices in horology that women's wristwatches are so commonly treated as lesser objects, resulting in far fewer iconic designs worth collecting.

This is truly a shame, and probably one of the reasons why horologically-minded ladies have taken to wearing men's watches in the past decade.  It seems that just now brands are getting the memo, and a few manufactures (notably Vacheron Constantin and Parmigiani Fleurier) have begun producing proper ladies watches again - you know, those ones that eschew faux-gold, not-so-precious stones and batteries for the real thing: mechanical, wearable art.  Long, long overdue.  Still, when it comes to vintage options for ladies, the pickings can be slim, quite the opposite from men's.

Fortunately there are things like this to soften the blow:  A Lady Datejust.

Try as we might, we cannot think of another mechanical ladies timepiece that has remained in constant production for decades.  Every bit as iconic as their masculine counterparts, the Lady Datejust features a miniaturized (26mm) Oyster case, and was offered in a range of materials and nearly innumerable dial configurations since its introduction.  Out of style for sometime as large, obnoxious fashion dangles took center stage, these petite and elegant timepieces are once again making a comeback - or perhaps just proving that they never left!

The example we have presented here is without question one of the finest examples of Lady Datejust we have ever come across, featuring a solid 18K gold case with matching bracelet, and a genuine mahogany dial.  In spectacular condition with box and papers, this is a ladies timepiece that us men would be envious of.  And are.

18K Gold Oyster Case is approximately 26mm (excluding the crown). Rolex Reference 6917/8

Overall condition: case is in exceptional condition over all, with crisp edges and no noteworthy blemishes. Genuine mahogany dial is in spectacular original condition with no signs of damage or peeling of the lacquer. Original hands are in similarly excellent condition. Caseback shows very light hairlines from normal wear. Original signed crown.

Includes solid 18k Super President Bracelet with hidden clasp. Also includes Rolex presentation box, sales receipts and factory service documentation.
